Positive Disintegration - October 2, 2014

And like rain falling on parched field, Joanna Macy came on the Bioneers radio program and spoke directly to my heart as if my experience was exactly hers. I am feeling less alone and seeing ways of holding and using the pain in the way forward, not banishing it, not indulging it, but not forgetting .... like Rumi says, welcoming each guest that comes knocking at the door, even the unbidden.

Positive Disintegration is her term, maybe that's what is happening to me, in the divestment movement, in so many things that need to shift..
Joanna shared this poem.
Quiet friend who has come so far,
feel how your breathing makes more space around you.
Let this darkness be a bell tower
and you the bell. As you ring,

what batters you becomes your strength.

Move back and forth into the change.
What is it like, such intensity of pain?
If the drink is bitter, turn yourself to wine.

                           In this uncontainable night,

be the mystery at the crossroads of your senses,
                           the meaning discovered there.

And if the world has ceased to hear you,

say to the silent earth: I flow.
To the rushing water, speak: I am.
