Living Dangerously - November 21, 2015
Just got in touch with my drunken inner fruitcake lover and I'm all over it - the hunt for the perfect fruit cake.
Day 1 - gather beautiful dried fruits like my own pears from this year's bumper crop, apricots, magenta dragon fruit, mango, strawberries, blonde figs, cherries, crystalized ginger, lemon and orange rind - and none of the usual dates, raisins, currents.
All of this is now bathing in buckets of brandy and I am checking frequently and happy in the doing.
As is my usual way of operating, I am promising an afternoon of enjoying this cake with tea and port and good friends. Yikes, it's no where near done and I'm not following a recipe. I am living dangerously.
Here is the first stage:
