Six days at Portland Valentango has been rich with classes, mixers, and practicas ... oh, and yes, milongas during which about 30 outsider followers sit looking longingly at the crowded dance floor wishing they were dancing. 

Portland is progressive in having women leads (mostly very good) and the largest tango festival in the US, but not in sharing themselves with outsiders. 

So we learned a lot and danced as much as we could. I go home with an injured toe for which I have only myself and my fabulous new red shoes to blame - another great toe nail will fall off in a few months, but that is little to pay for the privilege of dancing this fine dance.
