Wake Up, Vancouver - November 7, 2011
A few days after a very positive report to city council by its own staff on the Occupy encampment and all but one counselor supporting a wait and watch position, a 20 year old died of an overdose in an Occupy tent. Politics whipped into action with immediate moves to shut down, hence the inspired poem below.
Wake Up, Vancouver
Hockey gladiators rampaging.
police warriors parading,
genteel public outraging,
while addicts and whores die in the streets …..
Concerned inhabitants occupying,
city counselors posturing,
1% wannabees hand-wringing,
while addicts and whores die in the streets …..
People are dreaming.
People are waking.
People are caring,
For goodness sake.
Wake Up, Vancouver
Artful
garden lanes greening,
chic boutique stores greeding.
preoccupied professionals racing,
while addicts and whores die in the streets....
chic boutique stores greeding.
preoccupied professionals racing,
while addicts and whores die in the streets....
for
goodness sake.
Hockey gladiators rampaging.
police warriors parading,
genteel public outraging,
while addicts and whores die in the streets …..
for
goodness sake.
Concerned inhabitants occupying,
city counselors posturing,
1% wannabees hand-wringing,
while addicts and whores die in the streets …..
for
goodness sake.
People are dreaming.
People are waking.
People are caring,
For goodness sake.
