Embodied - May 22, 2012

As a meditator of several years, I am becoming increasingly interested in meditation that focuses on the body.  We are discovering that the brain is currently the most complex thing in the known universe and the heart and gut are also very complex neural networks beyond their other duties, so why wouldn't it be enormously interesting and instructive to explore inner regions of this vast mysterious and marvelous thing, my very own body, for which I am uniquely equipped to study?

Aren't mystics basically inner scientists, excellent observers of inner worlds who are able to communicate their findings? I find myself appreciating both mainstream science and inner observation.
