The Way is In - May 4, 2012
With thanks to Don and Thomas for encouraging the journey.
Going In
This deep pool of sadness in my basement
reflects an earnest face,
in a cavern of salty crystals.
Formed from tears of mine, parents, ancestors,
this liquid pool of organic, aquamarine,
is silent, yet stirring in the cistern.
You say, “dive in, know this place, the way is in”....
and I do.
Viscous brine that is alive and dense with stories,
flows through me, lubricates wild moving joints,
feeds hungry blood, bathes crackling brain,
and shimmers with ecstatic light.
Yes, I am grateful for all of it,
for sadness, anger, chaos ....
all of the energies the cosmos stirs up.
This palette of finely wrought emotional hues
creates new paintings momentarily,
each a dance of swirling change
fueled by the one prior
and the movements within.
Diving in, I embrace the sadness,
dance with the anger, and
move with the energy of the joy.
