Transformning in the Face of Paradox- July 22, 2012

This past week on taking in Bill McKibben's (350.org) recent writing on the ongoing and upcoming global warming and environmental destruction, which he describes as his most important writing in a very long time, he outlines the expected situation based on facts and the predictive models over the next several years.

The paper points to a rapidly approaching situation of no return in terms of passing an atmospheric carbon threshold. As I took in this information, really absorbed it, for the first time without resistance or denial, I was able to meet it without fear, but with grieving for the loss of so much that I love. Simultaneously, I was overcome with an open hearted love for all that is here now, is evanescent, and in this realization have been immensely moved by appreciation in the face of absorbing all aspects of this paradox.

As I recently heard described, grieving is love for that which does not endure and that is precisely what I'm feeling.
