Solstice poetry and and sentiment feel out of sync with the current calendar and weather patterns. We seem to be transitioning to warm, sunny autumns and dry, bright early winters in this neck of the woods, once again bringing to mind the constant difference we make on the environment that surrounds us. Watching a program on shrinking Arctic ice made me wonder what we would have done had we been here for the oxygenation of the atmosphere ... which of course we couldn't have since we depend on the oxygen that was poisoning the atmosphere and species present at that time. The charts and graphs would have been terrifying. Is it possible that the age of carbon dioxide will bring more brilliant and adaptable species?
