New Year, New Moon, New Us - January 2, 2014

The thing I love about the truly new is that we don't see it coming or at least not regularly. There is an element of surprise, no matter how skilled the predictor. We may feel the trajectory and have a sense of where things are going but the timing and specifics are not in our grasp. This gives us continual delight mixed with despair, though as an optimist I feel the overall trajectory as an evolution to the ever better. Thank goodness for large time scale as the jury is out on where we end up with the environment. And what's the end?

Pictured below, my favorite family, Azaria and her two dads, a family that could not exist openly and happily even a few years ago. They now live big color and big love. Worthy of celebrating!

Encaustic based on Azaria's drawing
