Writing about Writing - November 15, 2014
Sarah and her writing partner, Ali, who is suffering through teaching uninterested English literature students in Spain, share the trials of daily young adult life through their "epistolary memoir" emails which hyperbolicaly bemoan their own misfortunes in graphic and colorful language. Sharing the tragicomedy of growing up, they occasionally include stories of fallen comrades like the poor Utah football player who last weekend dropped the ball right before entering the end zone after a spectacular play.
While his team was celebrating, the good old Ducks scrambled the ball and ran to the other end of the field thus securing not only a TD but the entire momentum of the game which became a rout. This poor soul has become the dedicatee of their creative work and a guiding light of sorts. He has also provided much cheer to many of us including a lethargic hospice patient who enjoyed the now famous Youtube portrayal shared at his bedside. Ah the ways we all brighten the world even unknowingly.
