Miles and Miles

Last night we heard an exceptional concert at the Arcata Playhouse of six white guys playing Miles Davis for a 98% white audience, and they were exceptional. From early 50's through Bitches Brew, we got our groove on for sure.

That was after an emotionally wrought day of women's tennis at the US Open Finals where Serena was upset by Naomi, two beautiful Bitches of Color who played splendidly while white sexism and ineptitude was on display to a cringe worthy degree. It was both sad and real to see Osaka's entry into championhood, adulthood, and public persona reality as she witnessed the impact of Serena's fury at the ump, the booing of the crowd that stole her moment of glory, which allowed her to witness first hand what it means to be woman, black, and excellent at what you do. It means fighting the system every day and every moment on the world's biggest stage. What a real drama that is.
