Death and Humor in Vienna - June 5, 2018

Was Haring prescient in predicting Trump?
As energy is waning we are more precise in our choices of venues and the Albertina gallery provided the right mix of grandeur for a photo op, and sublime and ridiculous art with a Keith Haring exhibit.

At the Mozarthaus I was most touched by a quote from one of his many letters:

As death, when we come to consider it closely is the true goal of our existence, I have formed during the last few years such close relations with this best and truest friend of mankind that his image is not only no longer terrifying to me but is indeed very soothing and consoling! - W. A. Mozart

Both of these artists died tragically young yet accomplished while we muddle on, aged ones enjoying the ride, and of course grateful for every bit of the whole mess of it.

We are steeling ourselves for the Bach Cantata Ring Cycle in a couple of days (four concerts a day), immediately followed by a convoluted trip home for me. Whew, I will be able to rest in the garden.
