Pain or Bliss?
Take two: the first two concerts are complete, my body is wracked in pain and my soul is blissed and blessed. Are the two related? Howard says it's the full Lutheran experience - dreadful pews and heavenly music.
I can now knock off seeing the boys choir of Bach - Thomaskirche, and hearing the conducting and interpretation of Sir John Eliot Gardiner. Check out Cantata 36 if you'd like to go straight to heaven. This version is boys choir - we had sopranos and other adults for ours. The gorgeous soprano solo is toward the end.
Below is Sir John and his band and singers. The African American is Reginald Mobley, SF Bay Area countertenor whom we recognize from the Oregon Bach Festival, a wonderful singer!
