| Sky Pilot at the top of the Klamath |
That's my new avatar and I embrace it fully. Just spent the weekend in the Klamath Mountain range around Mt. Eddy, the highest mountain in that range that includes the Trinity, Trinity Alps, Siskiyou, Scott, Salmon, and Marble mountains. We climbed Mt. Eddy yesterday and what a magnificent day it was.

A complete nerdfest with a bunch of botanists frequently on hands and knees with noses in tiny plants the hike was a slow show to the top, but the views, both underfoot and three hundred and sixty degrees all around were extraordinary. I am smitten, by flowers, trees, enthusiastic people, fresh air, mountains, rocks, and the like. What a miracle to be alive for all of this.

The treat at the top besides the unbelievable views of Lassen, Shasta, Trinities, and
McLoughlin mountains was a small robust bright blue flowering plant in full bloom called Sky Pilot, Polemonium eddyense, a small phlox, only found at the very top of this very mountain. Rare have been the treats of summiting that this provided.
