Shadow Shunning - January 22, 2018

On dark and stormy puke provoking roads I drove a carload of us home from a tango weekend, one that reflected the weather in my emotional response.

Though better than usual I bristled at the pedagogy delivered with forcefulness rather than nuance and intelligence, more patriarchal than my comfort zone.

At the milonga where it is typical for outsiders to be shunned or at least ignored, that was my lot though my colleagues were faring better. Discouraged, I left early and overnight stewed in a hard knot of anger and pain which afforded me some time in the shadow lands.

I have since learned that rejection reads as pain on brain scans ... for good reason.
