Tie Harder
I learned a good lesson in a Shibori workshop at the Black Sheep Gathering. Indigo dye combined with Japanese process, actually many cultures do this, came alive for me in an intensely blue day at the fiber fair. We had several cotton and one silk swatch to play with and sample techniques.
I was exhausted and humbled by the end of the day as the work largely produced what looked like plain blue cloth, but as they dried overnight a little more distinction occurred and along with photo contrast help they look a little less anemic.
The goal is to produce intense white resist areas where the dye does not reach to contrast with the blue but my whites are minimal - gotta tie harder.
