Abstracting - September 24, 2013

The root of the word abstract is related to detach, separate, disconnect, reduce, summarize, condense, all such seemingly life denying concepts, yet I find excitement in reducing form, color, and line to that which wants to speak in its own non-representational language. There is freedom in juxtaposing layers, relating forms for the sake of movement or energy, and releasing the notion of duplicating a reality, since we each create our own anyway.
