Deep Field - the Impossible Magnitude of our Universe
Ahh, Eric Whitacre just released his new virtual choir piece, Deep Field- the Impossible Magnitude of our Universe, and it is magnificent visually and aurally, but then I must disclose that I am biased as a participant singer.
The entire piece is 23 minutes long and well worth listening to all of it as a mediation on this vast universe. The vocals enter at 19 minutes for the duration. And wouldn't you know I soared into right center field in the first choir visual. The credits take about 6 minutes, with all 8,000 singers acknowledged. My first and only such experience and I hear we are number 3 on itunes.
The breathing sounds of the choir toward the end make me feel the visceral connection of virtual singers, stars, planets, and the universe, unlike my recent posts of coursing anger, and there you go, life really is as sweet as a strawberry, terrible as a train wreck, all in the same moment, over and over again.
