Butterfly Blizzard

We recently hiked up Mt. Lassen on a splendid day with a small geology group and as a bonus surprise we were accompanied the entire way by flurries of California Tortoise Shell Butterflies on their migration.

Millions and millions of them dancing on the snow, the breeze, the mountain. A blessed encounter.
