Giving and Taking - September 20, 2012
Contemplating the nuances of giving/receiving and holding/taking it seems that the elements of these pairs are related to one another and the pairs are not similar events. The notion that one can take what is freely given doesn't make sense.
It's an interesting reflection to notice the difference between when I am receiving from someone and when I am taking or grasping at something I want. There is reciprocity and generosity in the first pair and their is tension and separation in the second. And if I try to take what is freely given without allowing and receiving, the door is not open to that which I desire.
