A Walk in Ladakh - October 9, 2012

Clear, fresh, cold, thin Himalayan air with impossibly blue skies greets us at every turn, along with smiling Buddhist monks, round-faced hearty locals, butter tea, barley beer, and fine dust in every orifice. High desert life is hard, yet smiles are warm even with winter looming. I was grateful for clear skies during a serpentine landing at the hemmed in airport. Mountain peaks are like characters in the landscape, changing in each moment as the Tibetan tanka clouds line up in formation, obscuring and revealing.
