Celebrating Peace - October 11, 2013
This year the Nobel Peace Prize goes to the Organisation for the
Prohibition of Chemical Weapons which has been hard at work for several years to rid the world of
chemical weapons. What a monumental change in values and
action in one human lifetime. We have moved from massive use of such weapons in both World
Wars, stockpiling in this and other countries in the ensuing decades, and now to commitment and action to safely dispose them. Only a handful of countries are not currently participating. This is indeed cause
for celebration.
