Seriously Lighthearted - October 3, 2013

I notice that lightheartedness is often viewed as not a sober enough perspective of reality or truth to be taken seriously. Well, I beg to differ. It takes courage to stay in high spirited relationship with difficult situations. I remember traveling in Zimbabwe, and although it was years ago, conditions were not good for most Zimbabweans, yet I saw so much joy, fun, and high spirits especially in the children, who had no fancy toys but found plenty to amuse. And of course there is that master of the infectious joyful spirit, the Dalai Lama, the one who lost his country and practices loving kindness with big smile.
