The Hands Know - November 12, 2013

I have a theory that our hands, if allowed, have direct contact to our deeper selves and can be more expressive of that than if we let things filter through mind. I notice this when hands find things that mind is frustrated with trying to accomplish. It’s also true with collaging and painting.

Beethoven's hand written compositions are almost as exciting to see as to listen to, at least they reflect his tumult and turmoil with scribbled out areas, ink blots, quickly written passages. I’ve been saving a small copy of such a passage and worked it into a dark and stormy collage. The hands were most gratified.
