Black Gratitude - July 28, 2016
During this week of the Democratic National Convention it is hard to miss the importance of the African American voice in the most meaningful speeches: Michele and Barack Obama, Jesse Jackson, Cory Booker all hit clear, humane, caring, real, tones that reflect experiences of ordinary people. They are all well spoken yet the message is directly from the heart. They care. They mean what they say. They make me aware of the important historical presence of Blacks in our discourse, and grateful for that rich presence that reaches into contemporary music culture.
