Rehearsing - July 1, 2016

Through incredible good fortune I found myself at the rehearsal for the Sir James MacMillan world premiere of European Requiem today. The composer was in the small audience as Matthew Halls lead the rehearsal and turned to him on occasion for confirmation which he gave each time. I was worried about whether Matthew would be able to sculpt the sound and silence as the master did a couple of days ago, but it appears that he too was taking notes and did a splendid job. It is a jaw dropping piece of sound painting and I can't wait to hear the concert tomorrow.

Conductor thanks composer as musicians applaud.
