Track Town USA - July 5, 2016
Every four years the Olympic track and field trials coincide with the Bach Festival and this time we decided to partake in an act of patriotic sports fever on the fourth and attend an afternoon of events from pole vaulting and javelin, to steeple chase, triple jump, and running races.
And yes, it contained all you could imagine, incredible wins, records, falls of a former Olympic winner knocking her out of her event, even local color with Eugene runners and a Humboldt State steeple chase woman runner who moved up to the finals.
I felt like a Roman with my family at the forum enjoying the best athletes displaying feats of strength and endurance. More on the Roman theme later as I head there in the fall with Howard, recent Ancient Rome expert who will keep me well informed.
