Fresco Phantasy - September 18, 2016

Friend of Dante, Giotto found himself at mid life in a dark wood and was invited to a project in Padova to paint a small family chapel for the merchant Scrovegni who was building a temple to absolve his family's financial sins.

It took Giotto and his 40 collaborators 625 wet fresco work days to complete in 1305 and is preserved beautifully today.

I am always intrigued when the great artists of a time know each other, painter and writer.
