It's About Color - September 17, 2016

Crowds can't get enough of Ravenna mosaics dating from the 6th century and lining ancient basilicas. And it makes me wonder what is the draw. It's not religion and most of these places are no longer holy places but of anthropologic and artistic interest. And I realize it's that fundamental draw to sparkle and bling, saturated colors that sing, harmonizing design of flora, birds, animals as well as the iconography.
