Dancing with the Mountain - June 19, 2017
We just returned from four days of Burning Tango, which means morning til midnight tango dancing at the foot of Mt. Shasta, and wow, what energy, fun, and aliveness.
I did this for the first time last year and what a difference some experience and training makes. More dances with better dancers and smoother response. With increasing awareness of the dance my body senses more in the leads, is less fearful and ready to drop into trusting the unfolding and let the legs manage the flow.
Some of the leads were so exquisite that the dances were composed of figures I'd not learned or ever tried but happened effortlessly and were breathtaking to experience. Some simpler dances resulted in embodied aliveness leaving all of me buzzing.
What a bunch of tango addicts, gathering in the shadow of this energetic mountain to get their tango on, embrace one another and revel in the love fest. Ahhh.....
