Unafraid - June 11, 2017
I am in the middle of a compelling and painful novel - A Little Life: A Novel by Hanya Yanigahara.
It is huge in number of pages, emotional turmoil, self violence and yet I can't stop. As other readers have said, "I need to find a way to help Jude, the main character".
Here's a book about male friendship and relationship, violence toward self and others and deep tenderness, written by a woman. Ah the complexity of life, of trauma, of trying to help or even understand another's experience. A tour de force.
We all live little lives in a grand scheme of some sort. And in the smallness we feel the enormity of the task of being unafraid of living what we must.
