Baba in the Kitchen - September 22, 2017
As I was making and canning applesauce from our apples, an annual event, it got me in touch with my female ancestors, mother, grandmother, and is something I always love to do, preserving every morsel of our orchard's bounty - which since we are transitioning to a new young orchard is limited for the time being.
As I reflected on my paternal grandmother, she was Baba, and I was feeling very Baba-like in my kitchen, Baba Yaga even, with great huge pot of bubbling apples. Then I realized, should I ever become a grandmother (no pressure, children) I would want to be called Baba.
