Deeply Sad and Beautiful - May 11, 2018

What else can you say about the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam? It represents his full range of work including many I don't remember ever seeing as well as old favorites and how interesting to see how they play differently at this age and time.

I was brought to tears by the beauty and sadness of his efforts at idealism in attempting to bring together artists and express himself while dying sick and poor, though rich in paintings. What a legacy for such a short life and extremely short painting life.

Photos not allowed so these are from the web, where the color reproduction is all over the map (these are close). I love his last fitful year of wheat fields and other subjects.
