Undone by Natural Beauty - May 25, 2018

Just attended a concert at Riga Cathedral and it was possibly the most extraordinary thing I've heard/seen. It was billed as an organ concert which was stunning, both organ quality and playing and all Latvian composers I've never heard of. Then there was also the Riga Cathedral Girls' Choir - first up in the organ loft then in the front of the church, and they were unbelievable.

I knew this was a nation of singers, but such sensitivity, close harmony, mostly a capella, just incredible, and such sweet, intense faces in a wide span of ages. It was a glorious thing to witness.

All performers were female, organist, choir director, singers, soloist, and a couple of instrumentalists. Is this related to the profoundly connecting experience?

I didn't even want to clap as it seemed that the most appropriate response was respectful silence. That rare and special gift.
