Occupy My Heart with Hope - October 22, 2011

I was deeply touched by Seamus, below, at the media booth in the Victoria, BC, Occupy encampment who was earnest and patient and embodies the characteristics of gentle, respectful caring that seems to be a common thread in many of the protesters.  He has a job in recycling, stumbled upon the camp, and has settled in to help with media.

He says there is much support from police, Public Health regarding food preparation, local businesses providing food, and the general public passing through and offering donations. They receive food and supplies but are not yet equipped for monetary donations. They are setting up ways to communicate among different locations.

As we talked a nearby elderly woman in a wheel chair reached out of her chair and fell out, scraping her leg. Several campers quickly came to her aid with good intention, concern, and first aid supplies. They are clearly committed to humanitarian action.
