Sensorama - October 16, 2016
It is a treat to exercise the less used senses of smell and hearing and Paris is a good place for that. With fresh bread, cheeses, chocolate, crepe, floral scents wafting, my nose is delighted. I can't get over the smells of cheeses we ate last night and for breakfast.
Walking early along the river and into Notre Dame I heard a mass performed mostly in song with organ. Emerging outside I was greeted by robust, multilayered bell ringing which couldn't be heard at all inside. So from dark, still, lyrical singing to blazing light with cacophonous loud peals was quite a transition. And tonight Bach violin partitas and sonatas reverberated through Saint Chapelle for a small appreciative audience.
